Recommended Vaccinations for Dogs and Cats

In Indiana, all dogs and cats over three months of age must be vaccinated against Rabies. In addition, there are a number of “core” vaccines that are strongly recommended for all pets. For dogs, this includes vaccines for distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus. Core vaccines for cats include feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia.

There are also “lifestyle” vaccines that are recommended for certain pets based on lifestyle factors. These include Lyme disease, Leptospirosis, and bordetella vaccines. When you bring your pet to us to be vaccinated, we will discuss your pet’s lifestyle with you to help you determine which vaccines will best suit their needs and provide adequate protection against the diseases they are most likely to encounter.
